Freedom pt-7 I hear God’s Voice
God is always speaking to each one of us. 1) The key is that you must believe that He wants to talk to you. Jeremiah 33:3 ESV Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
2) Take the time to listen.. tune everything off and focus on God. Listen to Him. He wants to encourage, strengthen and lead us. The beauty of our relationship with Him is that it is 24/7.
3) We can learn to hear God’s voice as we cultivate our relationship with Him. It comes with practice and spending time in His presence.
We hear Him through various ways: a quiet voice, an impression – you recognize that it’s not your thoughts. It’s an inner witness of the Holy Spirit. It can come through dreams, visions, from pastors, friends, nature. But the primary way is through His Word – the bible. His Word gives us wisdom and will guide us in every part of our life. It is helpful for teaching, training and guiding us. God will always speak to us in line with His written Word. If what we hear doesn’t line up with His Word, then it’s not His voice. For example God won’t tell you to worry or be angry or seek revenge. He always brings a sense of peace inside us and may bring correction, but not condemnation. The more often we spend time with Him, the more we will recognize His voice and be able to hear His voice with growing clarity.
