A New Song – A New Sound
Did you know that there is a Misery Index, and that Canada ranks worse than most developed countries in the COVID-19 misery index?
According to the March 8, 2021 National Post article, the “misery index” suggests that overall well-being in Canada has suffered more than average in pandemic, ranking 11th out of 15 countries on a scale of miserableness.
We need to be released from the current sounds that surround us in misery, sadness, hopelessness, fear and depression. We are here at this challenging time and are in a position to release the new songs of the Lord filled with hope, victory, joy! There is a reason for us to sing joyfully – we have a real & living hope that is active, not static.
Psalm 33:3 Amplified – Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully [on the strings] with a loud and joyful sound. Psalm 33: 1-4
1 Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him. 2 Praise the Lord with the harp ;make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. 3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. 4 For the word of the Lord is right and true;
he is faithful in all he does.
What is the content of our new sound? It is one of the faithfulness of God, hope, love & kindness. It can change the very atmosphere around us. God’s Word goes forth and accomplishes what He desires and achieves it’s purpose. We can stand firm on His Word. Psalm 33:4 NIV For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Psalm 16:11 ESV
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Our culture may carry the song of hopelessness, but we carry the song of hope and trust that is found in Christ. He is in control, and looking over us.
