Joy to the World
Luke 2:8-14 New King James Version (NKJV)
Glory in the Highest
8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And [a]behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a [b]manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill[c] toward men!”
Joy to the World… it is a joy with substance. It carries with it an awareness of victory. It enables us to walk in the place of victory over every heartbreak and loss.
Nothing can extinguish this joy. It is joy for all people. God is with us. We are never, ever alone or forsaken. Jesus has broken the wall between us and God.
Our salvation and peace has been secured. The responsibility and authority of all is on His shoulders. When our heart aches, we can lean on His shoulders.
His shoulders bore the penalty of our sins. He became a curse for us, so we could have eternal life. To know Him is to gain everything.
We don’t look at the trouble around us and say – look what the world has come to…but LOOK what has COME INTO THE WORLD.
