Is Jesus the source and centre of your life?
John 7:14-39 Jesus was at the temple for the double celebration of the Feast of the Tabernacle and of the Harvest. vs: 37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.
All of our thirsts, whatever we may think they are can only be satisfied by coming to Jesus. Jesus challenges us with the truth. He challenges our priorities, plans, the things we seek, our pleasures, money, self – all the things that we put ahead of God. Unless we take God’s plans in account, our plans are incomplete.
Jesus shows us that there is something more, larger, more important for our lives. All joy, purpose and meaning only come from being in a right relationship with God.
If we don’t get our relationship with Jesus right as our first priority, then we don’t get anything right. We will be limited to what we produce and accomplish. When Jesus is our first priority and the centre of our life and all our plans, then we can start living beyond our limitations. We can begin to see outcomes that exceed the best that we can do.
