Focus

John 14 1-4, 12-14 (KJV)  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know…..

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

How can we maintain focus?

  1. Choose the right finish line–  2 Corinthians 4: 16-1816 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.  Paul focused on the unshakeable future that he had through Jesus and was able to face every challenge.
  2. Accept imperfections of this life .2 Corinthians 4-9 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despaiPersecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;    There are no perfect people, leaders, churches.  We have a treasure, the glory of God, in each of us, inside our imperfect vessel.  We are able to reveal Jesus to others, giving God the glory.
  3. Fine tune your faith.  2 Corinthians 4: 1-2.

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.  Do not lose heart.  Assume the best. Turn your backs on the ways and practices that discourage, hurt, abuse others.  Choose to live humbly.  Share the gospel. It has the power to save.
