Confident Faith in Turbulent Times – Lesson 8, – “Set Apart” Hebrews 12:4-29 – Hebrews 13:1-25.Hebrews 12 & Hebrews 13

There are two great distinguishing features that mark every Christian believer – we are people of love and peace, and we are a people of holiness. “Make Every Effort to be Holy” because; “without holiness, no one will see the Lord.” What a wonderful expectation, to be able to see the Lord! Yet, without holiness, no one will see God: the Heavenly Jerusalem is a Holy City and
the Bible says that nothing impure will ever enter it (Revelation 21:27). In order to bring our lives into harmony with the revelation of Jesus, we need to understand what it means for us to make every effort to be holy.

Although holiness in Scripture, is associated with moral uprightness, is not chiefly about doing the right things; rather, to be holy is, first and foremost, to be separated, or set apart from what is common. It is to be different or unique in comparison to this world. Something or someone is made holy when God, who is Himself set apart from all creation, sets it apart for a special use or
purpose.
